This signed plaquette is taken from a rock-crystal plaque that formed part of a casket completed for Pope Clement VII in 1532.



The actual casket is below and is housed in The Museo degli argenti in The Pitti Palace, Florence.

  1. What a beautiful casket. Thanks for posting. I've never seen anything like it. Do you know much about the other panels? It looks like the bottom left panel depicts Adam and Eve in the Garden.
