Francesco Sassetti and his Son, Teodoro

Francesco Sassetti (1421–1490) and His Son Teodoro
Domenico Ghirlandaio (Domenico di Tommaso Curradi di Doffo Bigordi) (Italian, Florentine, 1449–1494)
The Jules Bache Collection, 1949 (49.7.7)
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

The above picture presents a difficulty.

Which Teodoro is it ?

There were two Teodoros.

The Museum thinks it is probably the second son called "Teodoro" and thinks that it was painted about 1487.

At the top of the picture are inscribed (top):
FRAN[CISCV]S SAXETTVS THEODORVS QUE·F[ILIVS] (Francesco Sassetti and [his son] Teodoro)

However, the painting of Francesco shows a younger Francesco than that of 1485 as seen in the frescoes in the Sassetti Chapel.

The Teodoro in the above painting seems different from the second Teodoro who is painted in the Sassetti Chapel frescoes.
