Pope Benedict XVI will visit Britain next year following an invitation from Prime Minister Gordon Brown, a government source said on Wednesday.
It would appear that the visit will be a State Visit and not simply a "pastoral visit" as Pope John Paul II conducted many years ago.
One hopes that there will be official confirmation of this soon: as well as an idea of his itinerary.
